What is Wooftown

Wooftown is a vibrant community website providing cutting-edge tools to help people be great dog parents.

The Problem

It is estimated that in the U.S. alone between 3 to 5 million dogs per year are either abandoned or surrendered to animal shelters; most often because of unrealistic expectations on the part of their owners. Unfortunately only 25% to 50% of dogs that make it to animal shelters get a second chance with another family. Tragically this leaves between 1 and 2.5 million dogs that are euthanized each year in the U.S. alone. Overwhelmingly, the former owners of abandoned or surrendered dogs are not evil, sadistic, uncaring people. Generally, they are unsuspecting, ill prepared, and overwhelmed, not realizing that the purchase of a dog is more about parenthood than ownership.
