The HomeCooked Treats: Every Dog Approved? 👀

When you come inside to visit Wooftown, all of the dogs who come in are welcomed to a treat 😋 More frequently than not, what we offer is the HomeCooked treats in your pup's preferred protein! HomeCooked is our own brand of treats that uphold all of Wooftown's classic food standards such as being all natural, air-dried, single-sourced, and single-ingredient. By dwindling down the amount of ingredients, you can be sure that HomeCooked is providing the highest quality of meat that can be offered. As with any treat, please supervise your dog while they are enjoying these treats and always have fresh water accessible for them. 

For the sake of this review, I wanted to compare all of the treats that HomeCooked has to offer and see which ones are suited for which kind of dog! I will be testing breakability (💪), texture (🔨), can a pup with no teeth safely eat it ( ✔️ or ❌), and palatability (😋) out of five! The contenders are...

🐄 HomeCooked Beef Jerky Treats

Out of all of the treats, I found these to be the hardest to break into tiny pieces. I would definitely recommend these as an "entire treat" kind of treat, like a chew! My two bigger dogs, a Border Collie Mix and a Pit Bull, really loved the crunch of these and it took them a minute or two to finish the treat. While extremely thin, the treat is not able to split very easily - I had to really twist to eventually get a sliver of a piece for my little Chihuahua.

My dogs went crazy for these! Although on the thicker side, the texture of these is very air-y and you'll feel it when you break them up. My Chihuahua was able to eat these easily, especially because I was able to break these into really tiny pieces for him. While these are not as crunchy as the other treats, my bigger dogs still enjoyed the texture of these treats. I'd feel comfortable giving these treats to dogs of all sizes, ages, and ability to chew treats! 

🐖 HomeCooked Pork Liver Jerky Treats

These treats are the thinnest out of all of the treats! With that being said, I found these difficult to break into smaller pieces and did worry about the sharp edges. All three of my pups are not big pork fans, so I wasn't surprised that they didn't take to these right away. If your dog loves pork, they will adore these! I would recommend these treats for dogs that love pork and pet parents who have dogs needing alternative proteins. These are great high reward training treats!

🐑 HomeCooked Lamb Lung Wafer Treats

My thoughts on these are very similar to the Beef Lung treats! These are the same consistency of light and air-y with easy breakability. My dogs prefer beef over lamb, but they still enjoyed these treats. I would recommend these treats for dogs who need alternative proteins to beef and chicken and need a softer texture treat! 

🐟 HomeCooked Cod Skin Wafer Treats

These are very similar to the Beef Jerky in the sense that these are really difficult to break into tiny pieces. I would recommend these as "entire treat" kind of treats, although their texture is not like a chew. My bigger dogs really enjoyed these, while my little guy had a tough time working through the tiny bit I was able to break off. I wouldn't feel comfortable giving this treat to my Chihuahua with no teeth, simply because I could barely break up this treat! These treats are on the thicker side and offer a great crunch for pups with strong teeth. My bigger dogs loved these and I'd definitely recommend these treats for pups looking for an alternative protein to chicken and beef!

All three of my dogs are HUGE chicken fans, so this was an instant winner! Not only was this treat SO easy to break into tiny pieces, but my bigger dogs really enjoyed the crunch of these. These were the easiest to break up out of all the treats! If your pup can handle any protein and you're looking for a crunchy and breakable training treat, these are the perfect treats for you.
